JPNAP has started the first 400GbE IX Connection as a commercial service in the Asian region.

INTERNET MULTIFEED Inc. (Multifeed) has started the first 400GbE IX Connection on JPNAP, which is one of the largest Internet Exchanges (IX1) in the Asia-Pacific region. This IX Connection is established with Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ), a leading ISP2 in Japan. This marks the first implementation of such a high link-speed in the region3.

As Internet traffic in Japan steadily expanded, ISPs and CSPs4 were increasingly demanding higher capacity. In April 2022, Multifeed successfully completed the industry's first 400GbE IX interoperability test, confirming its readiness to deploy 400GbE in IX environments in terms of both interoperability and performance5.

By connecting IIJ, which has one of the largest backbone networks in Japan, with JPNAP 400GbE, it is expected that IX connections will be widened and consolidated, improving operability and cost efficiency.
In addition, increasing traffic exchange on JPNAP is expected to provide a diverse and comfortable Internet usage environment for Internet users. Multifeed will actively work to further expand the use of 400GbE connections.

With the aim of further enhancing and expanding IX services through advanced technologies and services, Multifeed will contribute to the further development of the Internet and its reliability as a social infrastructure.
