MF Starts Providing JPNAP "PI/CUG Service"

TOKYO, JAPAN - INTERNET MULTIFEED CO. ("MF"; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koichi Suzuki) announced today that it is starting full JPNAP PI/CUG Service on October 1, 2006. MF has been providing JPNAP PI/CUG Service on a trial basis since June 2006. The PI (Private Interconnect) / CUG (Closed Users Group) Service is a service capable of achieving redundancy with the existing JPNAP distributed Internet exchange (IX) service. The PI/CUG Service utilizes VLAN (Virtual LAN) (*1) technology to enable secure, private traffic exchange between one or more designated members in a logical space that is separated from the existing public JPNAP service, and meets the diverse needs of customers using the JPNAP service.

1. Service Overview

The PI/CUG Service, a service that is in addition to the JPNAP service being provided in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, utilizes VLAN technology to let customers use PI or CUG service within the JPNAP service. The PI service is used for direct connections between two parties, and the CUG service enables traffic exchange among three or more parties.

2. Service Menu

The PI/CUG Service is available in two types: a "Port Type" that lets customers use one port for one PI/CUG (VLAN), and a "Tag Type" that lets customers use one port for multiple PI/CUGs.

(1) PI Service

- Port type (per VLAN)Initial fee :50,000 yen
Monthly fee :0 yen(included in JPNAP usage fee)
- Tag type (per VLAN)Initial fee :50,000 yen
Monthly fee :50,000 yen(10GbE port)
30,000 yen(GbE port)
20,000 yen(FE port)
In the case of the Tag type, the JPNAP segment is not included in the number of VLANs. However, in the Tag type, if an existing port is used to make a connection only to the JPNAP segment, only the initial fee will be charged.

(2) CUG Service

MF charges designated fees for both the Port and Tag types based on the customer's particular application of use.
